to want list

I need to make a list. Ondriana made one yesterday and it inspired me to do the same. I hate when I forget everything I want to do, make, or wear.

1. buy some pinkish blush. its officially winter and time to put away the bronzer. CHECK
2. make my skirt for the christmas party at the biltmore hotel. (it kind of looks like this, they took the other picture down I liked)

3. make this hat. CHECK

4. find something like these churidar legging/pants from Toast. 5. wear long necklaces more. i got sick of them because everyone wore them and they started getting cheesy. i like this picture though.

Thats it for now. I have alot of school work which should come first. Somehow, I dont even see it on my want list...

wedding hair

i wanted to share a few wedding hair styles i think are really pretty. they are mostly messy, which i think looks great with a formal dress.

long hair
don't you just love carrie? this pony tail is great. that's all i have to say.

medium hair
i like this hair style with a white braided headband or something thin and lacy.

short hair
this girl has VERY short hair so i am not sure how she even got it into a bun. it looks very sweet though.

stomach flu

sorry everyone. i have the stomach flu and have been doing everything possible to keep myself together (i will spare you the details). the only thing i can say right now is try brioschi if you have a stomach ache. its a natural antacid that helps and actually doesnt make die when you drink it. thank you dave for the suggestion.

i have to go for now. my stomach sounds like a T-rex. and i wish i was kidding.

do i really need wrinkle cream?

i just started using mary kay and so far i like it. especially the microdermabrasion stuff. i bought the timewise collection and although it almost broke the bank, i have been guaranteed no wrinkles. now that i am turning 23 i guess that's a necessary thing to think about. along with 401k plans and life insurance.
to go way off topic, someone asked me the other day who would pay for my burial if i died (since i don't have life insurance at the moment). at first i didn't even want to give the person the luxury of an answer. but then said "they can figure that out then."
how morbid. from wrinkles to coffins. lets stick on face wash for today please.
try out mary kay...

reds

I need to go to Sephora and try out red lipsticks. I have been using a coral color called "crush" from Rimmel but I really want to go darker. Kind of scary, for a million reasons. A few include:

  • smudges on a guys white shirt when they give you a hug (ah!)

  • orangish skin around your lips from the pigment fading into your skin

  • for some reason my lips always are dry when I use lipstick. red flaky skin is gross.

Ok, with all those fears and many more, I still think its worth a shot. Look how cute Jenny is from wikstenmade and this model in j.crew! The key is finding the right shade for your skin...

i like long hair

The other day I was feeling like a horse until I saw some pictures of girls with really long hair that still looked fashionable. Now I am happy again. My hair is getting pretty long and almost went for a shorter do but NO. I have to keep it because I always get mad at myself later.

Here is some inspiration for you hair-growers. There is a light at the end of the ugly hair day.

Wedding Help

I am in my cousin Ethan’s wedding this weekend and I am so excited! Its going to be so fun and the outfits are super cute (J.Crew!) So, I need some help with the accessory and hair side…

This is my dress and shoes (but ivory).

I would like to wear these pearls.

And I am going to make a hair comb with an ivory peony (we have them in our bouquets).

So. What do you think for hair? I love the curly one but the updo reminds me of Audrey in Breakfast At Tiffany’s…

I did my hair kind of like this before (here)

short blonde hair

I love this girls hair. I have no idea who she is and I haven't able to figure it out.
Teri Hatcher's hair is pretty cute too. I wonder if I would ever cut my hair that short...

mary kate olsen hair tutorial

Yes! I have found the secret. Ok,...lovemaegan found the secret, and has so wonderfully shared it with us. Check out her video on how to get the perfect wave.

A few tips I learned:
-make sure to hold the tip of your hair as you wind it around the barrel. and seriously. watch out. my poor finger is SO burnt it hurts to type.
-spray some "moveable" hair spray in your hair (whatever its called) before you start. it helps keep the curl better and makes it look more messy (ie: perfect)
-I used a 1.5" and 1" curling iron for my hair. The smaller the barrel, the less poofy it is. It also depends on your hair length, so keep that in mind. Ulta is having a sale if you need a new curling iron. Check out their promotions page.
Thanks for the video Maegan!

Spring 2009 Trends: Braids

This was kind of in fashion last year, but I am seeing a lot more braids this year. This hair trend isn't just for the hippie anymore. The key is making your hair look beachy and the braid not too perfect. Tuck it up into a bun or ponytail or just pin it behind your ear and you are set to go.

secret tips.

Maybe these aren't a big deal, but I wanted to share them anyway.
Lesson #1, go to the back of the Target aisles.
Yesterday I went to Target and I found the little Listerine mouth wash bottles on sale for $3. I went to the end of the aisle (away from the main traffic) and I found a HUGE bottle AND a little one for $4.50! Plus tons of other deals.

Lesson #2, scrub your frizzy wet hair with a cotton t-shirt.
I don't really have frizzy hair (just tons of slippery hair) so I am not sure if this works but I heard it does. It makes sense. There isn't as much static in the t-shirt.
Lesson #3, use lemons NOT Sun In.
I have very light hair and Sun In turned my hair yellow like a taxi. When I used lemons though, I didnt have any problems. Just light, natural highlights.

Lesson #4, if you want to belt a dress that has no loops, but a hair tie on the belt to keep the strap down.
This makes the "belted look" even better because you can't tell that the hair tie is there.

Lesson #5, rent your movies at Red Box.
Ok, this isn't a secret, but it is a very good idea. $1 a day! And...you can find free codes here, just make sure to bring a few in case one doesnt work. You can only use them for one movie.
Lesson #6, don't like to wash your hair? use your makeup loose powder!
Yes this is for the lazies, but I do it because I like my hair messy but my bangs can get gross. Just make sure you rub it into the scalp so you don't have a skunk stripe.

quick face makeover

I haven't done a beauty post in a while. I found a few things that work really well.
The commercials are true, the Advanced Seal Crest White Strips really stick well to your teeth. I got mine at Target for $37 (ouch) but with a $5 Target gift card and a $7 off coupon inside. So, it sort of paid off. Most importantly, it took away the tea stains on my teeth, gross! Just make sure you dont leave them on too long. They will get sensitive but its normal.

Bio-Oil is amazing for scars, uneven skin tone, and acne. I picked it up at Target and was so pleased with the results. Usually pure vitamin E works the best but it can sometimes clog your pores. This product does not do that. It smells really good too. I put it on in the morning and right before I go to bed on spots that I need to fix up (my whole face). You can use it anywhere. Don't be fooled by the stretchmark pregnancy talk on the back of the box, it is amazing for everything.

i dream of brown hair

I am not allowed to dye my hair brown (or so everyone tells me)because my hair is naturally blonde. Therefore, I resort to pretending that I will. Here are some pictures of what I wish I could do...
(i like her better blonde but i liked this picture)

feather headband

I made this headband last fall when I saw feathers getting popular on the runway.

Supplies:
Plain fabric headband
Feathers (can get at any local craft store)
Hot glue gun and 1 stick
Directions:
Pretty simple. Just glue the feathers, by the shaft, onto the headband. I suggest using plain colored ones as the base and then putting the prettier ones on the top. This was my first one I made (the others I sold) so I didnt realize to do that until half way through.

Because my hair is blonde the feathers blend in. Try using other types of feathers (pheasant or peacock) if you want the headband to stand out more.

lady help.

I have not been succesful with my razor lately (ie: I would rather be European) and am trying to find an alternative that will actually work. I love the internet because you can get opinions on just about anything. On the same note however, it is hard to determine if the product will work for me and if they people writing the comments are being realistic. Who knows, they could have hair like Chewbacca.

With that being said, I need your opinions. I am at the point of trying 2 different products...

1. Home waxing kit. Does waxing really make your hair grow less over time?

2. Epilator. I know it hurts but it seems less messy and less expensive over all then waxing.

I can't do laser hair removal because I am in college and therefore have no money. So what do you think?

pretty pictures

I loved these pictures by Jen of my polaroid blog. They are from her flickr.

This is one of my favorite headband from i heart ban.do which is a store she and her friend have started. The headbands are wild and fantastic. Check them out. They inspire me to make stuff I like and put it out there, you never know who will like it too!
